Exceptionally Super League 2020

Recommended Posts

With an international tournament going on it's not exactly the off-season, but that never stopped anyone ever from beginning ANOTHER football event. And so we announce, with our "very own" bombastic score, beautiful mascot, and adorable future messis the 2020 Exceptionally Super League for Selecting the Team that Sogg E. Frog Will Cheer. Hurrah!

This tournament will feature, as with every tournament, an entirely necessary group stage whose results have not already predetermined, a knockout stage which the locus of much drama, and glory, eternal glory, for the winner who will promptly drop out of the Premier League for my having cheered them.

Well, let's see the groups!

Group A (2020-21 London clubs) Group B (Seaside clubs) Group C (More things in the air) Group D (Miscellaneous)
Arsenal Brighton Hove & Albion Brentford Aston Villa
Chelsea Everton Leeds Burnley
Crystal Palace Liverpool Manchester City Leicester
Tottenham Hotspur Newcastle United Norwich City Manchester United
West Ham United Southampton Watford Wolverhampton Wanderers

As you can see, these groups were all handpicked along thematic lines to MAXIMIZE excitement. Isn't that super and not arbitrary at all?

Now for the rules about advancement:

1. Teams' places in their respective groups will be based on ascending order of points won in the 2020-21 English Premier League.

2. The top four teams from each group shall qualify to the knockout stage.

Group A Pts Group B Pts Group C Pts Group D Pts
Crystal Palace 44 Brighton Hove & Albion 41 Brentford 0 Burnley 39
Arsenal 61 Southampton 43 Norwich City 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 45
Tottenham Hotspur 62 Newcastle United 45 Watford 0 Aston Villa 55
West Ham United 65 Everton 59 Leeds United 59 Leicester City 66
Chelsea 67 Liverpool 69 Manchester City 86 Manchester United 74

Well there you have it, a very exciting and unpredictable group stage. I really did not see all of these so-called "top clubs" dropping out so early, but that's why we play the games. Here's our tournament brackets, which will be played out in the future weeks, or something like that:

Okay, okay, if people actually want to get involved and not just be spectators

proposed knockout rules:

I secretly come up with reasons why I should support team X vs team Y, but before I share you also post reasons why specific teams should win their matches, but so that you don't just all force me to support burnley you can each give just three reasons total per round (and also no obvious reason-fixing)

if there is a tie then we can vote on those before next round

Kindly support the Wolverhampton Wanderers, because they don't just have a shitty mascot

They have two shitty mascots in a stable relationship

Large

And as you can see they're adopting the local youth

MY PICKS...

Crystal Palace = hard choice because Leicester is also good but this clan supports all eagle-themed teams :armcross:

Watford = their mascot is a moose

Brentford = their mascot is literally a bumblebee lmao

Wolves = hahaha imagine supporting Spurs

West Ham United = Brighton is literally the most boring team in the league, avoid

Norwich City = a canonical FPH Heroe Club for reasons I cannot remember

Leeds United = I like them because they had good fantasy players last season and their manager is a crazy person

Newcastle United = hahaha imagine supporting Arsenal
